A letter from our President
For several decades, we have witnessed stagnation in the development of knowledge about community development. Although community development practices and innovations, both initiated by government and non-government institutions in Indonesia, have proliferated, these practices have not generated significant new knowledge, ideas, or approaches to foster better development.
We observe a lack of systematic effort to document the knowledge generated from these development practices, making it inaccessible to the public. There is significant overlap of knowledge across sectors, program issues, regions, and levels of government. Knowledge exchange among development practitioners, whether from government or non-government sectors, progresses slowly. The awareness of institutions and practitioners to document their development work and share it with other organisations is very low.
This stagnation in knowledge development is detrimental in several ways. First, the scarcity of development program documentation limits the body of knowledge that could inspire new ideas or strategies. Second, knowledge about innovations circulates only within limited circles, leaving the fresh experiences of communities as tacit knowledge that practitioners on the ground fail to capture and document explicitly. Third, program costs become inefficient; the poor tradition of knowledge management results in development work that merely repeats previous efforts, which may not be any better. Fourth, the reluctance of practitioners to communicate their experiences explicitly denies communities their right to information about their development.
PT Mozaik Karsa Prajna (Mozaik) is here to assist and facilitate development initiators in managing their knowledge, harnessing it as an energy source to enhance organisational performance and to create more meaningful change initiatives.
Warm regards,
RUSNITA SALEH
President Director
